This 20 days safari gives you the chance to visit two countries in east Africa. You will visit Rwanda where you have a chance to do chimp and golden monkey tracking before you cross to Uganda for mountain gorillas, shoebill trekking and wildlife experience.
Itinerary
Day 01 :
Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
- Pick up from hotel or airport + safari briefing
- Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park
- Stop for a tour at the King's Palace Museum
- Lunch en route
- Check in at lodge – relax
- Overnight: Chimpanzee Lodge
Day 02 :
chimpanzee tracking
- Morning: Drive to park headquarters for registration & briefing
- Assigned to a group with a ranger guide
- Chimpanzee tracking through the forest
- 1 hour with the chimps – viewing & photography
- Return to lodge for relaxation
- Optional: Canopy walk after chimp tracking
- Overnight: Chimpanzee Lodge
Day 03 :
transfer to volcanoes national park
- Breakfast, then drive to Volcanoes National Park
- Scenic drive through hills with beautiful landscapes
- Afternoon arrival – check in, lunch
- Visit the Dian Fossey Museum
- Evening: Return to lodge for relaxation & dinner
- Overnight: Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge
Day 04 :
Golden Monkey tracking and transfer to Bwindi
- Early breakfast, then park headquarters for registration & briefing
- Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes NP (2–5 hours)
- 1 hour with the golden monkeys – viewing & photography
- After tracking, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
- Overnight: Bweza Lodge
Day 05 :
Gorilla Trekking
- Early breakfast – packed lunch provided
- Arrive at briefing point by 7:30 AM (briefing at 8:00 AM)
- Assigned to a ranger guide and small group
- Gorilla trekking through the Impenetrable Forest (4+ hours)
- 1 hour with the mountain gorillas – photography & observation
- Hike back to ranger station – receive Gorilla Trekking certificate
- Optional: Visit Batwa (Pygmies) communities after trek
- Overnight: Bweza Lodge
Day 06 :
transfer to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park
- Breakfast, then drive to Ishasha sector via rolling hills of Kigezi
- Afternoon arrival – lunch, then check in
- Afternoon game drive – search for:
- Tree-climbing lions (famous in this sector)
- Leopards (lucky day), elephants, Uganda kobs, topis, warthogs, buffalos, waterbucks
- Overnight: Topi Lodge
Day 07 :
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
- Morning: Short game drive in Ishasha
- Drive to northern part of Queen Elizabeth NP
- Arrive, lunch, then afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel
- See schools of hippos
- Animals drinking/cooling off: buffalos, elephants
- Birds: African fish eagle, pied kingfisher, malachite kingfisher
- After boat cruise: Short evening game drive
- Overnight: Kazinga Wilderness Camp
Day 08 :
morning game drive and visit to Bunyampaka salt lake
- Best chance for early grazers & browsers
- Possible sightings: lions, leopards (active at night/early morning), hyenas, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs
- Visit Bunyampaka Salt Lake
- Overnight: Kazinga Wilderness Camp
Day 09 :
drive to Lake Albert
- Early breakfast, then drive (≈6 hours) to Lake Albert in the Albertine Rift Valley
- Lunch en route
- Relaxed evening enjoying the lake views
- Overnight: Kikonko Lodge
Day 10 :
drive to Murchison falls national park
- Breakfast, then drive to Murchison Falls National Park
- Check in at the park, then drive to the Top of the Falls
- Short hike to witness the world's most powerful waterfalls
- Drive to the lodge
- Overnight: Pakuba Safari Lodge
Day 11 :
game drive and boat cruise
- Early morning game drive (3–4 hours)
- Look for: lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalos, kobs, other antelopes
- Boat cruise along the Nile River
- See hippos, crocodiles, several bird species
- View the waterfalls from a different angle
- Short evening game drive on return to lodge
- Overnight: Pakuba Safari Lodge
Day 12 :
early morning game drive and community walk
- Breakfast, then game drive on different game tracks
- Check out of lodge, drive to Pakwach (closer to the park)
- Check in at new lodge, lunch, then afternoon community visit
- Overnight: Fort Murchison Lodge
Day 13 :
transfer to kidepo valley national park
- Breakfast, then drive to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu town
- Short break in Gulu, lunch en route
- Continue through Kitgum and Karamoja region communities
- Late afternoon arrival – relax at the lodge
- Overnight: Kidepo Savanna Lodge
Day 14 :
full day game drive
- Breakfast, then drive to the park – explore different game tracks
- True African wilderness experience
- Possible sightings: lions, cheetahs (lucky day), buffalos, elephants, hartebeests, reedbucks, kobs, giraffes
- Return to lodge, then afternoon/evening game drive
- Overnight: Kidepo Savanna Lodge
Day 15 :
full day game drive
- Breakfast, then morning game drive – more wildlife spotting
- Return to lodge for lunch
- Evening game drive or optional relaxation at the lodge

Day 16 :
transfer to Moroto
- Early breakfast, then drive to Moroto through Kabong and Karimojong villages
- Pass through Bokora and Matheniko Wildlife Reserves
- Early afternoon arrival
- Community tour in Karimojong villages
- Overnight: Kara-Tunga Camps
Day 17 :
transfer to Sipi falls
- Early breakfast, then transfer to Sipi in Kapchorwa
- 2-hour game drive in Pian-Upe Wildlife Reserve
- Proceed to Sipi – late afternoon/evening arrival
- Relax at the lodge
- Overnight: Lacam Lodge Sipi
Day 18 :
visit to the falls and transfer to Jinja
- Breakfast, then visit the Sipi Waterfalls (≈2 hours or more)
- Drive to Jinja through beautiful hills
- Late afternoon arrival – check in at lodge
- Overnight: Haven Lodge Jinja
Day 19 :
source of the Nile and transfer to Entebbe
- Breakfast, then boat cruise on the Nile to visit the Source of the Nile (≈1 hour)
- Lunch, then drive to Entebbe
- Overnight: The Boma Entebbe
Day 20 :
shoebill trekking
- Leisurely breakfast
- Drive to Mabamba Swamp for shoebill trekking (2–3 hours)
- Lunch, then your guide drops you at the airport for your departure flight
