Lake Mburo national park is the most accessible and nearest savanna national park from Kampala situated between Mbarara and Lyantonde districts on the Kabale-Kampala highway. It’s a hidden gem for most of the travellers in Uganda as it gives the best wild experience where one can easily make a guided walking safari, cycling or quad biking in the park. With the stunning landscape views and the lakes, one gets a great adventure and encounter with wildlife such as topis, giraffes, elands, zebras, warthogs among others.
Itinerary
Day 01 :
Kampala → Lake Mburo NP
- Early breakfast, then pick up from your hotel/residence
- Drive westwards via the Masaka–Mbarara road
- First stop: Equator in Kayabwe (73 km from Kampala, ≈30 min drive) – photo moments
- Proceed to Lyantonde, enter the park through Nshara Gate
- Drive to the lodge for lunch
- Check in, then evening guided nature walk in the park
- Return to lodge for relaxation, dinner & overnight
- Overnight: Rwakobo Rock or Arcadia Lodge
Day 02 :
Morning Game Drive + Afternoon Boat Cruise
- Breakfast, then drive to the park for morning game drive
- Animals to see: elands, giraffes, zebras, impalas, topis, waterbucks
- Return to lodge for lunch
- Afternoon: Boat cruise on the lake
- See many schools of hippos
- See many crocodiles
- Possible sightings: buffalos coming to drink and bathe
- Return to lodge for dinner & overnight
- Overnight: Rwakobo Rock or Arcadia Lodge
Day 03 :
Lake Mburo → Entebbe
- Early breakfast
- Morning game drive, then depart for Entebbe (≈230 km, 4–5 hours)
- Stop at the Equator for:
- Photo moments
- Short experiment
- Lunch
- Continue to Entebbe for your flight or to your lodge for dinner & overnight
