3 Days Bwindi Gorilla Tracking

This 3-day gorilla tracking trip is designed for those travelers who have only a short time to spend in Uganda and don’t want to miss the chance to observe our gorillas. Highly endangered, mountain gorillas are found in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo and nowhere else. During your short visit, you will have the opportunity to track the gorillas and also to meet some of the Batwa people of Uganda.

In approximately 1 to 2 hours (depending on traffic), you will arrive at the equator, stopping at the Equatorial Café for some refreshments and a look at the many handicrafts on offer. Continuing on for a few more hours, you will reach Mbarara where you will have lunch at the Igongo Cultural Center. Day 2: Gorilla Tracking

After an early breakfast, (your lodge will provide you with a packed lunch), your safari guide will be drive you to the park briefing point for check in no later than 8:00 am. Following a briefing on proper behavior in the forest, along with your ranger guide and small group, you will begin your trek into the Impenetrable Forest in search of the gorillas.

Now the adventure begins.
Gorillas set up a new camp every night and thus, they are constantly on the move. Depending upon where the gorillas slept the previous night, locating them can take several hours. Once you do locate the gorilla family, you will have one hour to watch and photograph them, after which you will hike back to the ranger station to re-group with the other trackers and receive your gorilla tracking certificate. Upon exiting the forest, you will have a break to eat the packed lunch prepared by the lodge. If time permits, prior to returning to the lodge, a visit to one of the Batwa villages can be arranged, as well as a stop at the many roadside shops to buy some of the locally produced handicrafts. Dinner will be served in the evening at the lodge. Accommodation Bweza Lodge or Rushaga Gorilla Havens
